Midwest Festival of Young Preachers

Download Full Schedule

The Midwest Campus Festival of Young Preachers is a two-day event sponsored by Neu Chapel, at the University of Evansville, endorsed by the Academy of Preachers, and modeled after the national Festival of Young Preachers. The Festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 11-12, 2011, Homecoming weekend, when young preachers from the Midwest will come to the University of Evansville and preach a sermon in Neu Chapel. Following each sermon, a panel of experienced preachers will offer feedback, recognize our young preachers for their interest and ability, and encourage them to continue seeking God's guidance in their call to preach the Gospel. Keynote preacher for Friday and Saturday is United Methodist Bishop, Peggy Johnson from The Philadelphia Area, Eastern Pennsylvania and Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conferences. Founder and Executive Director of the Academy of Preachers, Dwight Moody will preach at University Worship on Homecoming Sunday, November 13, 2011, 10:30 a.m.

The Midwest Campus Festival will enable us to promote preaching among our current students, stay in touch with recent graduates, and build important relationships with prospective students. It will also help prepare young preachers in their call to ministry, possibly ordained ministry.

The preaching theme for the Midwest Festival is The Sermon on the Mount, which is also the theme that will be used at the national Festival in January, 2012 in Louisville, Kentucky. Scholarships to attend the national Festival of Young Preachers (January, 2012 in Louisville, KY) will be awarded at the Midwest Festival as well.

The Festival will be hosted by the Neu Chapel Society whose mission it is to support religious life at UE, the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church, and the Academy of Preachers. The community is invited and encouraged to attend.
